Cookie & Privacy Policy
COOKIE POLICY
This Cookie Policy explains how www.bluecompassgreece.com (the "Site"), operated by BCG DMC, uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function properly and, with your consent, help us understand how the site is used. Similar technologies (such as local storage) work in a comparable way, and we refer to all of these as "cookies" in this policy.
2. How we use cookies
We keep things deliberately simple. The Site uses only two categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies, which are required for the Site to function and cannot be switched off; and
- Analytics cookies, which help us understand — in anonymized, aggregated form — where visitors come from and how they move through the Site.
We do not use advertising, targeting, or social media cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie data for marketing purposes.
3. Essential cookies
These cookies are set by Squarespace, our website platform, and are necessary for security and basic functionality. They cannot be disabled.
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
| crumb | Cookie | Session | Prevents cross-site request forgery (CSRF) to keep your browsing secure |
| Test | Cookie | Session | Checks whether your browser supports cookies, to prevent errors |
| ss_cookieAllowed | Cookie | 30 days | Remembers whether you agreed to the placement of analytics cookies |
| squarespace-announcement-bar | Local storage | Persistent | Stops the announcement bar reappearing after you dismiss it |
| squarespace-popup-overlay | Local storage | Persistent | Stops a promotional pop-up reappearing after you dismiss it |
| Locked | Cookie | Session | Supports password-protected pages, where used |
4. Analytics cookies (set only with your consent)
These cookies are set by Squarespace Analytics only after you accept them via the cookie banner. They measure visits, approximate visitor location (country or region), pages viewed, and clicks. The resulting data is aggregated and anonymized — we do not use it to identify individual visitors.
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
| ss_cvr | Cookie | 2 years | Identifies unique visits and visit patterns in aggregate |
| ss_cvt | Cookie | Session | Groups activity within a single browsing session |
| ss_cid | Cookie | 2 years | Measures site interaction, such as pages viewed and time on site |
| ss_cpvisit | Cookie | 2 years | Supports aggregate visit measurement |
| ss_cvisit | Cookie | Session | Supports aggregate visit measurement |
5. Managing your cookie preferences
- Cookie banner. When you first visit the Site, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. Only essential cookies are set until you make a choice.
- Browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect how the Site works.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if Squarespace changes the cookies it uses. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
PRIVACY POLICY
1. Who we are
This website, www.bluecompassgreece.com (the "Site"), is operated by BCG DMC ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Greece with offices at 7–9 Soufliou Street, Athens, Greece.
For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are the data controller of the personal data described in this policy.
Contact: [[email protected]]
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains what information we collect through the Site, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We do not sell anything through this Site, we do not run online payments, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone — ever.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you contact us through the Site — for example by submitting an inquiry form or requesting a private consultation — we collect the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number, travel dates, and preferences. We use this only to respond to you and, where you decide to work with us, to plan and deliver your journey.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we collect limited, aggregated analytics data so we can understand how the Site is used and improve it. This includes:
- your approximate location (country or region, derived from your IP address);
- the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, and how you arrived at the Site;
- general technical information such as browser type, device type, and operating system.
This analytics data is analysed in anonymized, aggregated form. We do not use it to identify you personally, we do not build individual profiles, and we do not use it for advertising or targeting.
Our hosting provider, Squarespace, also collects certain technical data (such as IP address, browser, and network information) that it needs to run, secure, and improve the Site. Squarespace analyses this data in a de-personalized form.
4. Why we process your data and on what legal basis
- Responding to your inquiry and preparing a proposal — because this is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Operating and securing the Site — based on running a functioning, secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Analytics cookies— based on your consent, given through the cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time (see our Cookie Policy).
- Complying with legal obligations — where laws applicable to us require it (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with:
- Squarespace, Inc., which hosts the Site and processes visitor data on our behalf;
- service providers that support our business operations (such as email and business software providers), under appropriate confidentiality and data-processing terms;
- professional advisors, or public authorities, where we are legally required to do so.
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
6. International transfers
Squarespace and some of our service providers are located in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep data
- Analytics data: held in aggregated form; associated cookies expire as set out in our Cookie Policy.
We do not collect, or keep personal analytics data.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- restrict or object to our processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr) or your local supervisory authority. If you are visiting from outside the EEA, we extend these same rights to you as a matter of policy.
9. Children
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
